Florida is used to tourists. And sometimes, tourists get arrested when to come to visit Florida.
So if you get arrested in Florida and then you return to your home state or home city, you will have a court date. But what happens if you fail to appear for your court date?
You will have a bench warrant (also known as an alias capias).
Do you have to return to Florida to settle your warrant? Or worse, go into custody?
Not necessarily. If you were arrested in Florida, returned to your home state or home city, and forgot to appear in court, you may not have to return to Florida.
You may be able to retain an attorney who can not only take care of clearing the bench warrant; but an attorney who can help you ultimately resolve the criminal charges against you.
If you have visited Florida and have an outstanding bench warrant, contact my office to see if we can resolve the warrant without you having to physically set foot in the State of Florida.
