Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) and the Miami Beach Police Department are campaigning to stop drunk driving on Halloween Night. Namely, the two organizations are encouraging the use of ride-sharing services, like Uber, to prevent people from driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
While Uber has helped cut down on the number of drunk driving fatalities nationwide, people still make the mistake of driving while impaired. In Florida, a first-time DUI offender can face a mandatory conviction, a court-imposed license suspension (6 months up to 1 year), a term of probation, an ignition interlock device, a vehicle impoundment, and thousands in fines and court costs.
If a person is seriously injured or killed as a result of a DUI crash, you could face prison time.
