A man is facing serious felony charges after attempting to use a fraudulent credit card at a Miami Gardens BrandsMart USA store.
A man attempted to pay for a $2,500 computer at the checkout counter with a credit card. When the cashier asked the man for identification, the man became nervous and began to make excuses.
Store personnel got involved, as well as the Chief of the Miami Gardens Police Department, who was in the store at the time. The suspect took off running, striking the off-duty Chief as he tried to escape. Store personnel, the Chief of Police, and several customers held the suspect down.
The suspect faces charges of grand theft, fraudulent use of a credit card, battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting an officer with violence, and battery.
