A Dania Beach man is looking at the possibility of spending life in prison for allegedly running down an 81 year-old man during an argument that took place at Everglades Holiday Park.
The accused and the alleged victim were apparently by the boat ramp at the park located on US 27 and Griffin Road. Witnesses allege that the accused used racial slurs and threw a rock at the 81 year-old man's car before intentionally running him over with his truck. The accused then fled the scene.
Law enforcement tracked down the accused and arrested him. He is being held without bond in the Broward County Jail on one count of second-degree murder.
If convicted, he could be sentenced to life in prison.
The accused has a prior criminal history that includes an arrest for aggravated assault with a firearm. He also has a few domestic violence injunctions, including one that appears to have been applied for by his father (though later dropped).
Second-degree murder is a non-bondable offense, meaning the accused will remain in custody pending trial.
