www.wsvn.com reports that the alleged driver who killed three people in an
LSA (leaving the scene of an accident) early Sunday morning has been arrested.
Police arrested the accused driver after it is reported that he made a full
confession to causing the crash.
The driver allegedly stated said he was speeding, under the influence of
alcohol, and was
driving with a suspended license at the time of the crash. He claimed that he panicked and fled the scene
on foot, leaving his injured vehicle behind.
The crash occurred in the area of Northeast Second Avenue and 82nd Street
in Miami-Dade County. The crash killed three people and injured one.
The driver is charged with with three counts of leaving the scene of an
accident resulting in death and one count of leaving the scene of an accident
with serious bodily injury. He is being held on $36,000
bond.
This case will likely play out in the media due to the fact that three
people were killed. The alleged victims' families will have tremendous
influence on the decisions made by the Miami-Dade State Attorney regarding
how to approach this case. The State will undoubtedly seek a hefty prison
sentence. Unless a successful
plea negotiation can be conducted by the driver's
Miami-Dade County criminal defense attorney, this case will more than likely go to trial.
