WSVN is reporting that police have arrested a woman accused in a hit-and-run crash that left a 6-year-old boy injured.

According to the station, the 24-year old accused woman turned herself in to police. She has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident with great bodily harm and driving with a suspended license (DWLS).

The facts alleged are that the young boy was crossing Lucy Street near Second Avenue in Homestead when he was struck. The boy, whose right leg was broken in the crash, now has a rod in his leg and is using a wheelchair as he recovers, the station reported.

LSA (leaving the scene of an accident) causing great bodily harm is a third-degree felony, punishable by a maximum of 5 years in state prison.
