Heroin is a serious drug with serious consequences in the State of Florida. Even possession of heroin is a second-degree felony, punishable by a maximum of 15 years in prison.
Trafficking in heroin is listed in the same category as hydrocodone and oxycodone,
with the same minimum mandatory sentences applying.
As you may know, Florida is notoriously tough on
prescription drug trafficking. However, our lawmakers have decided to include heroin (since it's
an opiate-derivative like oxycodone, hydrocodone, and morphine) in the
same statute that gives courts the authority to impose high fines and
high mandatory prison terms for prescription drug trafficking charges.
I represent clients charged with all trafficking offenses in Miami-Dade
County and Broward County. I practice
Miami-Dade County criminal defense exclusively. If you or a loved one have been arrested for heroin trafficking,
or any type of drug or prescription drug trafficking, please
call my office today.
