A Miami man is facing serious charges after he was caught in the act of committing structural burglaries in a Miami neighborhood.
The accused is charged with burglary of an unoccupied structure and criminal mischief.
The accused is alleged to have been seen by neighbors going between homes at about 3 a.m. The neighbors flagged down an officer who located the accused hiding behind the air conditioner of a home.
Police claim that the accused was in possession of burglary paraphernalia - such as a mask, gloves, pliers, bolt cutters, and a flashlight.
The officers also claim that the A/C unit the accused was hiding behind may have been tampered with.
A/C units contain copper wire, which can be sold to scrap metal yards for cash.
The accused has priors that include petit theft and a structural burglary charge that was “no actioned” or never formally filed.
The accused is being held on a $12,500 bond. Both charges, the burglary and the criminal mischief, are felonies.
