Multiple police agencies within Miami-Dade County, such as the Coral Gables Police Department, Hialeah Gardens Police Department, and Medley Police Department, will be holding a driver license checkpoint today (April 14, 2015).
The purpose of this checkpoint is to make sure that all drivers are carrying the required documentation (driver license, registration, proof of insurance).
If your license is suspended, you could be charged with driving while license suspended (DWLS).
This is also a chance for police officers to initiate contact with motorists, which could lead to other charges should officers see or smell drugs inside of the car.
If you have an outstanding bench warrant, you could be arrested.
The checkpoint is located near the 5600 block of Southwest Eighth Street on the cusp of West Miami and Coral Gables.
