A Broward man was arrested and charged with kidnapping his 6-month old son.
Parental kidnappings are not uncommon. A parent can commit the offense of kidnapping against a child when they violate a custody agreement or do not have custody of the child.
The man, who is said to have a history of drug abuse, took the child from the mother’s house.
The father did not have custody of the child.
The judge set the accused’s bond at $44,000. The defendant is charged with aggravated child abuse, and multiple counts of dealing in stolen property and false verification to a pawnbroker.
Aggravated child abuse can either be a second or first-degree felony.
