One of the questions I am most frequently asked is, "How long does it take to seal or expunge a record?"
Under normal circumstances, I would say it takes between three and six months to seal or expunge a criminal record in the State of Florida.
However, in my discussions with FDLE (the agency that processes requests to seal or expunge a record), it is apparent that there is a significant backlog of applications.
I would urge all applicants to extend the wait time to seven or eight months now.
If the timeframe should return to normal, I will let you know.
