A man from Michigan is accused of using his car to strike the car of a Boca Raton police officer.
According to reports, the accused struck the driver's side of the patrol car, causing both cars to swerve onto the sidewalk.
Upon his arrest, the accused gave a statement to police, in which he told investigators that he was in a rage and stressed out by personal issues. He also admitted to taking various drugs, according to police. The accused said he knew he had hit a police car.
The accused was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon on a police officer,
aggravated assault with a deadly weapon on a police officer,
DUI and
fleeing and eluding.
He was being held Saturday in the Palm Beach County Jail on a $70,000 bond.
Aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer carries a seven-year mandatory minimum sentence.
