The Sun Sentinel reports that an 18-year-old will spend the rest of his life in prison for robbing and fatally shooting another teen outside Boyd Anderson High School after the victim pleaded for his life, a judge ruled Friday.
Last month, Broward County jurors convicted an 18-year old of shooting a high school freshman in the chest after an April 2009 school dance.
The 18-year old was convicted of first-degree murder and
armed robbery with a firearm.
Broward Circuit Judge Jeffrey Levenson was required to impose the mandatory life sentence without the possibility of parole.
Florida lawmakers have determined that a first-degree murder conviction warrants a mandatory life sentence. The judge has no discretion in this matter and must impose the sentence or risk an appeal.
