A Broward Sheriff's Office deputy who was involved in a high speed collision that killed a 14-year-old girl last year is out on bond after turning himself into police on vehicular homicide charges Tuesday.
The 23-year old former deputy was indicted by a grand jury last week in the January 2010 crash that killed the 14-year-old.
The deputy was released on a $7,900 bond after voluntarily surrendering himself. He could face up to 15 years in prison if convicted on the vehicular homicide charge.
The alleged victim was a passenger in a Honda Civic, which was reportedly driven by her stepsister. It is further alleged that the Civic was struck by the former deputy's patrol car at North Dixie Highway and Northeast 56th St in Broward County.
The deputy has been charged with vehicular manslaughter and reckless driving.
