grand theftA Broward County woman has been arrested after being accused of stealing more than $32,000 from a school's PTSA activities account. Investigators allegedly looked into a Parent Teacher Student Association account over the last 15 months at Silver Lakes Elementary School and discovered the missing money.
According to police, the accused was allegedly doctoring bank statements and padding ledgers. The arrest report said other PTSA board members confronted the accused, who admitted to the theft and promised to pay back all the stolen money.
The woman has been charged with one count of grand theft. The charge will be grand theft in the second degree (a second degree felony) since the amount of the theft exceeds $20,000.
