After receiving a tip from a resident, Miami Springs Police pulled over a pickup truck at a Chevron Station on last Thursday around noon and questioned three men on suspicion of burglary.

Although the driver of the vehicle allegedly admitted taking two bicycles and an edger from a backyard in the area of the 1100 block of Quail Avenue, police couldn’t locate a victim. Following the law, police could only arrest the men for loitering and prowling. Loitering and prowling is a misdemeanor punishable by up to 60 days in jail.

Loitering and prowling is sort of a "catch all" that permits officers to arrest a person when they are supposedly in a place where they are not supposed to be and they do not dispel an officer's concern for the safety of the community.

If an alleged victim is located, however, the men could face more serious charges.
