Miami Beach Police have arrested a burglary suspect who broke into the alleged victim’s home by cutting openings in a fumigation tent, then cut a hole in a safe and took about $300,000 worth of jewelry.
The alleged victim says that she hired a pest control company to fumigate her house, then returned home to find that the house had been burglarized.
The accused allegedly cut a hole in the tent to enter the home.
Once inside, the accused allegedly took goods that were both valuable and priceless, including watches, rings and family heirlooms.
The accused was then spotted on surveillance video selling “numerous jewelry pieces” at the Seybold Building in downtown Miami, the largest jewelry building in the state, police said.
Detectives then allegedly recovered more jewelry from the accused's home, including some that belonged to the victim.
The accused faces charges of armed burglary, first-degree grand theft and dealing in stolen property.
