A jury has found an Orlando man guilty of second-degree murder for the shooting death of his wife.
The jurors deliberated for more than 13 hours during two days before finding the accused guilty of second-degree murder. He faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 25 years under Florida's 10-20-Life law due to the face that a person was killed by the use of a firearm.
The accused's criminal defense attorney told the jury that the accused's wife might have been trying to commit suicide or shoot her husband. The defense at trial was that the accused had been trying to get the gun away from his wife when it accidently went off.
A 911 call where the accused stated, "I just shot my wife," proved to be a very damaging piece of evidence.
The defense attorney has stated that he will be taking an appeal.
